Trinidad & Tobago

Empowering local volunteers to use drones, GIS, and data for disaster response and STEM education.

About

Trinidad & Tobago Flying Labs is a locally-led volunteer network using drones, GIS, and data for good. We support disaster response and emergency mapping across the Caribbean, and build STEM programmes that introduce children to drone technology, building homegrown capacity instead of relying on outside teams during emergencies.

Services

Rapid aerial mapping and damage assessment for disaster response, GIS-based data analysis, and hands-on drone/STEM training for schools and communities across Trinidad & Tobago.

Local Capacity Building

Building a founding team of volunteer drone pilots and GIS specialists, to grow local skills and operational capacity.

Sector Applications & Projects

Our work spans coastal mapping for turtle nesting conservation, mangrove and coastal erosion monitoring, and planned flood-risk mapping of the Caroni River with local partners.

Advocacy & Policy Support

Building a working relationship with the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority to help shape drone regulations and emergency-operation protocols in Trinidad & Tobago.

Youth/STEM Programs

We develop interactive workshops for schools and local communities that introduce children, students, educators, and other participants to drone technology, aerial data collection, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through hands-on STEM learning. By equipping teachers and community facilitators with practical knowledge and resources, we aim to encourage continued learning, inspire future innovators, and expand access to drone and geospatial technology across Trinidad and Tobago.
