Coordinator and Environmental Scientist

Drone Pilot | Environmental Scientist | UAV Educator | Mapping & Remote Sensing Specialist
Daniel Sammy is a Trinidad and Tobago–based drone pilot and environmental scientist with over 14
years of hands-on UAV experience. A self-taught pilot, Daniel has developed expertise in building,
repairing, modifying, and operating drones, giving him a practical understanding of UAV technology
from both the technical and operational perspectives.
In his professional role as an Environmental Scientist, Daniel integrates UAVs into environmental
assessments, field operations, and mapping. His experience includes aerial reconnaissance,
photogrammetry, LiDAR mapping, high-resolution aerial photography, erosion monitoring, shoreline
mapping, environmental inspections, and surveying. He uses drone technology to collect spatial data,
document environmental change, and support evidence-based decision-making.
Daniel has also flown UAV missions across the region, including Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana,
Suriname, Panama, and Jamaica, gaining experience in diverse environments and field conditions while
staying within each country's drone regulations.
He holds a BSc and MSc in Environmental Science and is currently pursuing a PhD. Through Flying Labs
Trinidad & Tobago, Daniel is passionate about sharing his practical knowledge and helping build local
capacity in drone operations, flight safety, mapping, photogrammetry, environmental monitoring, and
responsible UAV use.
His vision is to promote drones as accessible and powerful tools for environmental conservation,
disaster response, coastal monitoring, agriculture, surveying, education, research, and community
development across Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.
