Environmental Planner
Rohit Pansare is an Environmental Planner with over 9 years of work experience in the conservation and environment planning field. This includes 5 years of experience in conducting environmental assessments and habitat risks assessments especially for renewable energy projects and 4 years of experience in the World Bank-funded, Integrated Coastal Zone Management project for conservation of marine resources and participatory planning with the Forest Department in Gujarat. He has extensively worked on Land Use Land Cover change modeling, Digitization and Spatial analysis, wind and shadow flicker modeling.
Well-versed with Remote Sensing and GIS tools such as Idrisi, ArcGIS, QGIS, and Google Earth Engine API, he is involved with 8 institutes as visiting faculty covering subjects ranging from GIS-RS, biodiversity assessment, environmental impact assessment, environmental law, and disaster management and has conducted over 10 trainings on open source GIS and Remote sensing. He has participated in national and international interdisciplinary workshops on climate change, water accounting, and environmental assessment. He is also a published photographer and has exhibited his work in cities across India.
As a professional photographer, he has volunteered with Jan Swastha Sahyog in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh for documenting their initiatives related to community health and sustainable agriculture. His other interest includes interdisciplinary research related to climate change, urban biodiversity, environmental education, open-source mapping, and citizen science initiatives.
