Kenya Flying Labs and French Artist Saype Celebrate UNEP@50

In March 2022, the world celebrated UNEP@50. It was time to reflect on the past and envision the future, an opportunity to reinvigorate international cooperation and spur collective action to address the triple planetary crisis of climate change—nature and biodiversity loss, pollution, and waste.

As part of the celebrations, Kenya Flying Labs supported SAYPE to depict efforts made in Ecological restoration over the years and what the future potents. Saype is a French contemporary artist specializing in ephemeral urban art, land art, and public art and uses 100 percent biodegradable paint in his works. 

‘A better future for people and the planet’ was the artwork's theme.

Saype’s painting represented this by a horizon, which unites thousands of people who have worked in favor of the environment in the last 50 years with children who will take part in shaping our future.

It all started at U.N. headquarters in Geneva during the 75th-anniversary celebration of the institution. In June 2020, the realization of "World in progress " offered an optimistic message and the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the fragility of our societies. The two children draw a farandole that links humans, animals, and their environment without borders and discrimination.

This idealization comes to life where a message of hope, "World in progress," reminds present generations of their duty towards the current and future generations. Not-to-lose sight of peace between nations and preserving the world's environmental heritage. 

The children are part of the world they have imagined before and need to take care of it.
