Call for Applications to Lead La Réunion Flying Labs

We call for new applications for the coordination of La Réunion Flying Labs.

January 23rd, 2021

Since its official launch in October 2018, La Réunion Flying Labs has supported project leaders and promoted initiatives using drone technologies and data acquisition and analysis for social good. Led by Stéphane Pic, CEO and co-founder at USIO, La Réunion Flying Labs successfully partnered with numerous local and international actors (e.g., Qualitropic, Aerotech-Run, DSAC-OI, RunFabLab), and organized conferences and events to promote the use of robotics for social good.

Flying Labs are local knowledge-hubs that are run entirely by local experts. Flying Labs decide for themselves which activities to carry out and with whom to partner. WeRobotics serves as an enabler, a facilitator for knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and opportunity transfer when Flying Labs request it.

Flying Labs are operating in 30+ countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, all driven by local demand. Flying Labs joins the network through a franchising model (which you can learn more about here). Any local organisation that fulfills the criteria and is aligned with the network’s values and activities can apply for a Flying Lab in their country. Or join an existing Flying Labs through an official partnership. Licenses are provided annually, with an extensive interviewing process for the first year, followed by a yearly evaluation with the Flying Labs for the renewal.

USIO coordinated La Réunion Flying Labs for the past two years, but the team cannot renew their license to continue leading La Réunion Flying Labs due to other engagements. As a result, we call for new applications for the coordination of  La Réunion Flying Labs starting this January. Any interested organisations can learn more about the Affiliate Flying Labs Progam and apply here.

We thank Stéphane Pic, CEO and co-founder at USIO, and his team for their excellent leadership and efforts to support the Power of Local.
