Eng. Lucy Meleki

Eng. Lucy Meleki is a Geomatic Engineer, licensed drone pilot, and Mine Surveyor under the Mineral Regulation Commission, and a Co-Founder of Radiant Engineering Limited, delivering drone, surveying, and geospatial engineering solutions in Zambia.

She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Geomatic Engineering and is a candidate for a Master of Engineering in Water Resources Engineering, with specialized expertise in water systems in mining environments. Her work integrates surveying, spatial modelling, and drone-based geospatial analytics to support environmental monitoring, risk management, and climate resilience. She is a graduate of the African Drone and Data Academy and Zambezi Drone Academy, and holds Remote Pilot Licences issued by the Zambia and Malawi Civil Aviation Authorities.

Her professional experience spans government, private sector, and development initiatives, including mine surveying and licensing, cadastral and engineering surveys, national mapping and census operations, water and environmental studies, and GIS- and drone-based monitoring for conservation, carbon, and community projects. She has completed advanced training in drone technology and data applications through Virginia Tech, Furman University, and the Malawi University of Science and Technology.

Lucy is a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia, the Surveyors Institute of Zambia, the Society of Women Engineers, When Females Lead, and the Geospatial Information and Technology Association of Zambia.

At Zambia Flying Labs, she leads locally driven, humanitarian, and innovation-focused drone and data initiatives, applying surveying, modelling, and geospatial intelligence to address water-related challenges in mining, disaster risk reduction, environmental monitoring, and community resilience. She is committed to advancing drones for good, responsible technology use, and high-impact, data-driven solutions for sustainable development in Zambia.
