Yasuhiro Soshino

Ambulance Drone Coordinator

Soshino is a Director of the International Medical Relief Department at the Japanese Red Cross Kumamoto Hospital. He is also a Head of the disaster response technologies unit at the Japanese Red Cross College of Nursing Disaster Relief Research Institute. He is a member of the Field Assessment and Coordination Team (FACT) of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Since the 2001 Gujarat Earthquake in India, he was deployed to more than 10 global disaster response missions as a logistician, coordinator and a team leader.  In 2017, Soshino proposed “the ambulance drone concept” which is an integrated service of the telemedicine and the medical cargo drones (see link). Since then, he has built up a wide range of networks with telemedicine specialists and drone specialists in private sector and academia.  Currently, he is a member of the Drone Working Group in the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Since 2020, he has been managing the medical fuel cell vehicle project which is the world first project with Toyota Motor Corp (see link).  He received his Ph.D. in Environmental Management and Planning from the graduate school of Kumamoto University.
