Tanzania Flying Labs - Short Video

Coordinator Yussuf Said Yussuf explains the environmental and development challenges that face Tanzania and how aerial robotics can aid in analyzing them.

June 8th, 2017

Since the opening of Tanzania Flying Labs in November, a lot of progress has taken place. To show you a bit of what has happened, we’ve decided to put together a short video.

In this video our local Coordinator Yussuf Said Yussuf explains to us the environmental and development challenges that face Tanzania (specifically Zanzibar) and how aerial robotics can aid in analyzing them. This includes efforts such as coastal line monitoring, forest management, and urban growth. In addition the video features WeRobotics’ first open training session, focused on using mapping drones for social good. Tanzania Flying Labs member Khadija explains its goal, to bring together people from across the East African region and from different sectors to teach them how to fly drones and plan missions. The video ends with Yussuf explaining the importance of engaging with communities, and educating them on the work being done and how robotics technologies (such as drones) work to help solve challenges. We hope this is the first of many videos to come showcasing the good work going on at Tanzania Flying Labs!
