RunFabLab is a complete Fab Lab on Reunion Island supported by the SOLIDARNUM Association to promote the highest number of innovative players. This support promotes the economic development of Reunion Island and its priority sectors: tropical agriculture, environment, and tourism. With access to 3D printers, robotics technology, and cutting and shaping tools, RunFunLab educates and trains young people interested in innovation and the maker movement.

RunFabLab follows the MIT Fab Labs charter but also proposes networking of complementary structures on Reunion Island (e.g., coordinating with other Fab Labs, coworking spaces, et.), and they have been successful thus far in recruiting new partners.

The SOLIDARNUM Association, which carries the RunFabLab, was created to make it easier for citizens to access the digital services that are increasingly necessary for their integration in the public and private sectors. SOLIDARNUM sets itself the following objectives:

  • The harmonious digital development of the Reunion Island territories and the southern Indian Ocean area;
  • The reduction of the digital divide affecting certain social or geographical strata of the population; and
  • The networking of digital actors leading actions or offering eco-citizen and solidarity services.

Among the founders are actors from the sectors of communication, economics, university research, community management, and the deployment of digital services in the public sector, who have thus defined the Association's raison d'être.

At the beginning of this year, Unmanned Systems Indian Ocean-La Réunion Flying Labs (USIO-RFL) entered into a partnership with RunFunLab and SOLIDARNUM to give their members access to each other's expertise, tools, and networks. We are excited to see where this new partnership takes both organizations and each of their members.
